English About the laboratory

About the lab

The Earth was born 4.6 billion years ago.
Life forms, which arrived on Earth incidentally, are still active in today's complex and diagenetic environment.
To gain a deep understanding of its scenario (global environmental changes and depletion of resources),
this laboratory aims to explore the essential elementary steps;
  •     desert area with possibilities for existence of all humankind,
  •     crustal deep layer zone,
  •     regional interface phenomenon by life forms on near-Earth object.

Research Objects

Soil

土壌There are many kinds of soils on this Earth. But do we know how and what for those soils are made?
We examine the placemaking for sustainable food production on devastated desert area, and for the creation of "soil" resource on protoplanets like moon and Mars.
We also try to truly understand the "another Earth," which is constructed with the soil environment.

Themes:
  • Soil aggregation with the use of natural humic substance and carbide
  • Early soil formation from rock forming minerals by humic substance and carbonic water
  • Resolution of plant bioactive mechanism by humic substance
  • Resolution of carbon and water circulation in a desert environment

Self-organization

自己組織化Microorganisms and plankton are so small but can do an advanced transformation and sophisticated manufacturing of matter that human beings can never do.
We make nanosize organic / inorganic particles by forming fine air bubbles and emulsion and providing plasma to the reaction field.

Themes:
  • Making of microscopic bubbles and nanoemulsion
  • Making of spherical particles by the reacted interface of fine heterophase liquid
  • Composition of organic compounds from primordial gas by using underwater plasma
  • Resolution of the refinement of heterophase liquid by analysis of PIV

Forests, rivers and the sea

森・川・海Organic matters and nutrient generated in the forests are deliverd through rivers to the sea, and bring rich aquatic resources. We chemically verify and evaluate the connection between basin zone and ocean area to understand the rich natural environment of the Boso Peninsula. And from its results, we suggest the need of uniform management of forests, rivers and the sea.

Themes:
  • Verification of the connection of between forests and the sea of the Boso Peninsula
  • Verify the buffering function of forest near the river mouth and Banzu dry beach to chemicals
  • Resolution of the mechanism of iron leaching from iron-containing minerals with fulvic acid
  • Evaluetion of the usage of underground ancient seawater as a resource and the effect on surficial environment

Message to students

This laboratory needs students who take environmental classes.
Academic result is not important, but persistence and dream in the future are necessary.
If you wish to be an engineer at environmental assessment, a consultant engineer or an educator of natural environment, to attend graduate school is highly recommended.
